Marrakech Moroccan Las Vegas

As soon as I walked into Marrakech Moroccan restaurant we were greeted by the owner Tariq and the environment and mood made me feel alive! The belly dancer was working her way through the tables of patrons, the music was captivating and I was ready to eat, enjoy the show and dance!

We had the Prix Fixe 6 course menu. Every dish was tasty! Loved the shrimp with lemon/garlic sauce, beef & chicken was so moist and dessert was divine!

Just when I thought I couldn’t eat anymore the next dish would come out. I ate EVERY last bite. It was too good to pass up! I didn’t care how full I was…and that’s where the belly dancing came in!!!!

Vito’s Pizza with Cheri Oteri

Dinner with Cheri Oteri at her favorite pizza joint Vito’s Pizza in West Hollywood on LaCienega!

Vito is the man! Everybody knows him and everybody loves him! People go there just to see him. Vito walks his pizza dough and talks to it. He is a legend! He has been asked to be on shows on numerous occasions and he always turns it down. He says that’s not for him, he is a pizza maker. Can you believe it? someone who can care less about being on TV. Its all about his pizza!!!

We started out with Greek Salad, Baked Ziti, Bread Sticks and Wine. Yes, we started out with all that before even diggin’ in to our pizza!

The Garibaldi
Start with a basic margherita, add meatball fresh tomatoes and jalapenos. named after the man who liberated Mexico

Cheri O “Chi Chi”
Cheri left the neighborhood and came back talking crazy ideas about pizza. Vito fought her on it evidently she won. This one’s for her fresh arugula, thinly sliced prosciutto, gorgonzola and toasted pine nuts on top of a white pie.

And Cannoli for desert!

All are must haves! They do have pizza by the slice as well as beer and wine!

AmaWolseley Marimba Band performed at LA Food & Wine Fest

The opening performance from the very special amaWolseley Marimbas, who have flown all the way from South Africa’s Witzenberg Valley. This is their first time out of South Africa.  The group consist of 8 young aspiring musicians, all selected not for their experience but for their natural rhythm. Listen to their incredible sound and meet a few of the marimbas here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HB28BjTCJpQ.

The band performed at Los Angeles Food & Wine thanks to Charles Banks, Founder of Terroir, who has multiple wineries participating in the festival. This past March, Charles had the amaWolseley Marimbas perform at his South African winery Fable Vineyards and it blew him away. He made the generous gesture to bring them to LA, and his sponsorship has helped garner much needed support for the program, allowing them to involve more children in the townships and expand to include African Dancing and Djembe drumming. Festival co-founder David Bernahl said, “Los Angeles Food & Wine Festival continues to celebrate the second-to-none culinary and cultural diversity that is LA. We see no better way to honor that eclectic electricity than a world class mash up of Grammy award winning artist Common and a group of ridiculously talented kids from the other side of the world.”

I was lucky enough to see them perform at the LA Food & Wine Fest!  What a special treat!!!!  Loved them!
